Samantha Gavin is an associate in M&R’s Orange County office, who focuses on complex litigation and class action matters.  

Many of Ms. Gavin’s contributions in the litigation process have helped result in successful judgment awards for M&R clients. She has involvement in trial preparation, including developing trial strategy, writing motions and briefs, evidentiary objections, and aiding counsel in closing arguments and direct examinations.  Additionally, Ms. Gavin has worked in the early stages of litigation to ascertain damages, draft demurrers and write pertinent motions.

Ms. Gavin is a member of the Women Attorneys of M&R (WAMR). 

Past Experience

Prior to joining M&R, Ms. Gavin interned at the Orange County Superior Court for the Honorable Clay Smith.


Ms. Gavin earned her J.D. from the University Of California Davis School Of Law. She was nationally recognized for her outstanding performance as a student advocate, and inducted into the Order of the Barristers. While at UC Davis, she was chosen for the Trial Practice Honors Board for her excellence in trial advocacy, and represented UC Davis at numerous national mock trial competitions. She was a Staff Editor and Publications Director for the Business Law Journal. Ms. Gavin was her Class Representative and served as Vice President of the law school. She also acted as a teaching assistant to first year law students in legal research, writing, and first year course subjects. 

Ms. Gavin graduated with a B.A., in Political Science, from Rice University. She acted as a mentor to incoming students, and served as a counselor to women at the Houston Area Women’s Center. Ms. Gavin interned at The Boeing Company, working in business development for network and space systems.

Representative Matters

Sham Organizations & Fraud: An investor sought recovery of his $750,000 investment, after it was discovered his investment funds were used to purchase personal items.  After a multiple day jury trial, Ms. Gavin aided counsel in recovering $4.1 million for the client.  Ms. Gavin assisted counsel in trial preparation by drafting motions, developing trial strategy, and preparing the PowerPoint Presentation for Closing Argument.
