Lawyers and administrative professionals view their positions with the firm—which places an outsized emphasis on inclusion, professional development, advancement and attorney branding—not just as another job, but as a home where careers are built and passions realized.
Our lawyers are the best in their respective fields and they bring to the table not just proven legal know-how, but also a real-world understanding of our clients’ industries. In fact, it’s M&R’s industry focus that sets us apart from the rest.
M&R’s management is progressive, transparent and committed to employee satisfaction. That explains our working environment, which is, above all else, healthy, collaborative, diverse, inclusive and really enjoyable. This is true no matter the office—L.A., Irvine, San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, Chicago or New York.
The upshot is that attorneys at M&R—from brand new associates to the most senior partners—find fulfillment from their workloads AND their workplace. A workplace, by the way, that boasts a fully staffed Marketing Department to facilitate our lawyers’ personal branding and business development efforts.
To be a partner at M&R is to be a partner at a different kind of law firm—one with a nuanced approach to law and business that distinguishes us from the rest of the pack. Our commitment and focus on client service excellence, client inclusion and client industries not only define M&R, but also sets the tone for the experience of our partners, all of whom find real career satisfaction and success based upon this practice model. Partners—lateral and otherwise—find fulfillment as well from a workplace environment that places a premium on growth and development (both professional and personal), entrepreneurship, innovation and collaboration. This, coupled with top-tier legal work and a meaningful investment in business development, make for partnership opportunities that are truly rewarding.
M&R is an exceptional law firm and even better place to practice, especially for associates. We handle litigation and transactions on behalf of a nationwide clientele, but unlike other firms, we do so in a rather unique way—by knowing our clients’ businesses inside and out. That spells opportunity for our associates, who not only develop into outstanding attorneys, but also become industry authorities along the way.
There's more. Because M&R wants younger lawyers to feel as appreciated as they truly are, we made big news late in 2021 by significantly adjusting our compensation scale upward, making the firm’s associates among the highest paid in the legal industry.
Taken together, it’s clear why we’ve been named among the “Best Midsize Law Firms to Work For” by Vault, the respected rankings source for attorneys nationwide.
M&R is especially proud of our robust summer associate program.
Every fall and then again in spring, M&R attorneys conduct on-campus interviews (limited to 2Ls) at top law schools in major cities nationwide. We’re on the lookout for students with exceptional academic records who’ve engaged beyond the classroom while in law school (read: moot court, law review and other legal journals). As an industry-focused firm, we also take into account previous professional and business experience.
Our diverse group of summers enjoys a hands-on work experience while at the firm, working closely with lawyers in several practice areas and gaining invaluable industry insight. In fact, summer associates at M&R are trained to be attorneys from day one, writing motions, drafting briefs and participating in depositions, transactions and regulatory matters. It’s not all business, however. Our summer program features all kinds of fun events. These have included Broadway musicals, baseball games, culinary classes, barbecues and so much more.
In addition to OCI, we accept write-in applications from top-tier students unable to meet us in person. Would-be summer associates can inquire about our program by emailing Corby Sullivan, Legal Recruiting Coordinator, or call him at 310.299.5500
Our attorneys are only as good as the professionals who support them. Lucky for us, we have a diverse and talented team across departments, including accounting, human resources, IT, marketing, practice support (legal assistants and paralegals) and records & office services.
We’re always seeking to enhance our outstanding professional staff. To learn more about available positions, please email Shaniece Leigh, HR & Staff Recruiter Coordinator, or call her at 310.299.5500.
