Akshay Sewlikar represents corporates, financial institutions and sovereigns in international arbitration, complex litigation and regulatory investigations. Dual-qualified in India and England & Wales, he brings more than a decade of experience to cross-border disputes—particularly in financial services.
His matters include English High Court claims and arbitral proceedings under LCIA, ICC, SIAC and DIFC rules across banking, energy, infrastructure and mining. Akshay has acted for—and against—states and state-owned entities and recently represented the Premier League in the first financial fair play proceedings against Everton FC, as well as separate proceedings involving other football clubs.
Additionally, Akshay advises on sensitive inquiries by regulators and tax authorities, sanctions exposure and financial crime issues. His experience includes internal investigations, whistle-blower matters and coordinating defence strategies in antitrust, fraud and competition cases.
Before Michelman Robinson, Akshay was a Managing Associate in the arbitration and litigation department of a Magic Circle firm; he served as a Judicial Assistant at the High Court of England and Wales as well. Previously, he also completed a 16-month secondment in-house with a multi-national Japanese investment bank, overseeing litigation and investigations across EMEA and reporting into the General Counsel.
