Trade Groups Welcome Dietary Supplement Innovation Act

Share
A proposed change to federal law could give certain dietary supplement manufacturers and retailers more clarity about which ingredients they can bring to market. In Mass Market Retailers, Thomas Krzeminski discusses the Dietary Supplement Innovation Act, legislation addressing restrictions on supplement ingredients previously studied or approved as drugs. Tom explains that the proposal would allow certain ingredients associated with discontinued or long-inactive drug-development programs to be used in supplements. It would also give companies a way to promptly challenge certain FDA decisions in court. The bill is narrow in scope, but for businesses affected by these restrictions, the added regulatory certainty could make a meaningful difference.
