Jon-Jamison Hill represents clients in commercial disputes, bringing sound judgment and a calm, strategic approach to every matter. With more than two decades of litigation experience, he handles complex cases with an eye toward the legal issues at hand and the business context driving them.

As the leader of the firm’s business litigation group, Jon manages matters spanning contract, construction, real estate, IP, and environmental disputes. He has represented clients in trial and appellate courts, as well as in arbitration, and is known for guiding cases toward resolution in a way that supports operational continuity and minimizes disruption.

Jon works across industries including financial services, technology, entertainment, and construction. In addition to his litigation practice, he advises on deal-related risks and helps clients anticipate legal challenges early, providing counsel aimed at preventing disputes altogether.

  • Commercial Business Litigation:
  • Obtained favorable settlement on behalf of county agency against over $400M in claims asserted by contractor for major highway renovation and infrastructure improvement project.
  • Successfully defended trial of claims brought by contractors against school district arising from construction of new adult education center in southern Los Angeles, resulting in favorable judgment for the school district.
  • Recovered company data and ousted partner who took data and other company property in an effort to extract a large monetary distribution from the company.
  • Defended prominent credit counseling agency and obtained a favorable settlement for client in a nationwide class action alleging claims of unfair business practices, violations of the Credit Repair Organizations Act, and violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
  • Obtained multi-million-dollar jury verdict at trial for prominent tax attorney who sued his former client for money owed for services rendered.
  • Defended an international technology company in a wage and hour class action lawsuit that resulted in dismissal of all class claims against the client.
  • Prosecuted claims brought by the Massachusetts school district, on behalf of a class of other municipalities, for damage caused by polychlorinated biphenyls in caulk and other building materials used to construct numerous Massachusetts schools.
  • Music & Entertainment:
  • Obtained dismissal of all claims in a high-profile case against the Producers of the Academy Award© winning film The Hurt Locker and defended judgment on appeal.
  • Represented NFL team in connection with claims it successfully brought against the architect who designed the team’s stadium.
  • Defended reality television producer in a series of defamation and misappropriation of likeness cases brought by third parties who claimed they were unfairly portrayed on popular show.
  • Represented minor league baseball team at arbitration against city that illegally attempted to revoke team’s lease of local stadium. Obtained preliminary injunction, interim award, and settlement in favor of the team.
  • Internet, Software & Technology:
  • Defended Amazon.com aggregator against competitor alleging theft of trade secrets, resulting in early, successful settlement in client’s favor.
  • Successfully advanced fraud and contract claims brought by county against software developer who failed to deliver custom-built software platform.
  • Obtained permanent injunction for auto parts manufacturer against competitor who was knocking off certain popular, specialized parts.
  • Represented startup company in trial of claims for misappropriation of trade secrets and breach of fiduciary duty initiated by company founders.
  • Defended a telemarketer and call servicing center, along with its principals, and negotiated a favorable settlement on their behalf in an action brought by the Federal Trade Commission for alleged false statements and misleading advertising.
  • Banking & Financial Services:
  • Prosecuted civil claims on behalf of a bankruptcy trustee against an international banking institution and a number of hedge funds for fraudulent transfers resulting in significant recovery for client.
  • Achieved full affirmation on appeal of judgments entered in favor of private equity firm in series of lawsuits brought by former owner of failed real estate development project.
