Lauren Varnado has been featured in Attorney at Law Magazine, which showcased her being named among the top energy attorneys in the nation in Lawdragon’s annual list of 500 Leading Energy Lawyers.

M&R associate Enrico Trevisani, a UCLA School of Law graduate and one of the most celebrated law school mock trial competitors in U.S. history, has been featured in an article on trial advocacy published in UCLA Law Magazine. Read the piece at pages 37 through 40.

Matthew Yarbrough was quoted in an article published in the Dallas Morning News titled, “Hutchins Barbeque owner sues dad and brother over name of new North Texas restaurant.” In the piece, Matt emphasizes the issues that can arise when consumers are confused by restaurants with similar names selling the same cuisine but being run by different parties.

In its 2023 edition, Texas Rising Stars Magazine published an article featuring Lauren Varnado titled, “When the Judge Draws a Gun.” The story recounts Lauren’s showdown with former Circuit Court Judge David W. Hummel Jr., who threatened her with a firearm in his West Virginia courtroom.

Dana Kravetz was quoted at length in an article published in Human Resources Director Magazine titled, “Office romance is risky business, but 75% of employees aren’t sweating it.” In the piece, Dana comments on the perils of dalliances between supervisors and subordinates that could lead to claims of sexual harassment and issues of retaliation and favoritism.

On May 4, 2023, CBS and NBC News in Texas turned to Matthew Yarbrough for his views on a ransomware attack on the City of Dallas computer systems that compromised several critical servers and city services.

In a Law360 article published on May 4, 2023 titled, “Contract Delay Likely As Google Fights Joint Employer Status,” Stacey Chiu is quoted at length. In the piece, Stacey comments on a recent NRLB ruling declaring Google and Cognizant, a vendor providing data quality services for YouTube Music service, joint employers.

Megan Penick offered her insights in a Law360 article published on May 5, 2023 titled, “Kenvue’s IPO Offers Glimmer of Hope During Bleak Times.” The piece covered Johnson & Johnson consumer-health spinoff Kenvue Inc.’s recent $3.8 billion initial public offering. For her part, Megan suggested that Kenvue’s IPO, the largest new listing since 2021, does not necessarily signal good news for the market at large.

On May 1, 2023, Sanford Michelman was quoted at length in a Los Angeles Business Journal article titled, “Time to Grow.” The piece takes a look at firms looking to expand going into 2024 and features M&R’s recent moves in New York and Dallas and Sanford Michelman’s eye toward the future.

On April 17, 2023, Megan Penick was quoted in both The National Law Journal and Bloomberg Law in articles that include her take on Slack Technologies v. Pirani, a case now before the U.S. Supreme Court. Among the issues Megan commented on was how public disclosures apply to IPOs and direct listing.
