Lara Shortz has recently been named a member of the board of directors of the Hotel Association of Los Angeles (also known as HALA). In that capacity, Lara will provide her expertise to further HALA’s mission to protect the rights and interests of hotel owners and operators and be their indispensable business resource.

HALA is an advocacy organization representing hotels and their suppliers. Among other things, the group monitors local government throughout Los Angeles county to ensure that the lodging industry’s voice is heard on issues of concern.

And that we just did, with the announcement that M&R attorneys have been recognized by Best Lawyers, the oldest and among the most respected peer review publications in the legal profession.

In naming him to its list, Billboard recognized Michael’s efforts to bridge music and deal making, together with his portfolio of work facilitating the purchase and sale of music companies and recording and publishing catalogs, as well as private equity acquisitions, venture capital investment, joint ventures and bank financing in the music space.

The music-related transactions Michael has worked on in recent years have been quite notable, and Billboard certainly agrees. This is a great honor for Michael, and very well deserved.
