David DeJute represents clients in high-impact litigation with a combination of courtroom experience and strategic foresight. Known for tackling matters with legal and reputational consequences, he offers clients a calm, informed approach under pressure.
Before joining the firm, David spent more than a decade as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Civil Division, where he tried cases involving constitutional law, regulatory enforcement, and commercial disputes. His government service included nationally watched matters, including a challenge to President Barack Obama’s eligibility for office (the so-called “birther” case) and a dispute over whether NASA properly held title to a moon rock.
He also brings in-house perspective to his practice, having served as a vice president at Sony Pictures. There, he oversaw global litigation, handling disputes tied to intellectual property, talent agreements, and profit participation. This dual public–private background allows David to advise clients across industries with precision and clarity.
In addition to his litigation practice, David teaches at Pepperdine University School of Law, where he supervises pro bono work through the Disaster Recovery Clinic. He has also taught upper-level courses in antitrust, trademark, trade secret, copyright, entertainment law, and legal ethics. His commitment to education and public service reflects the same focus and discipline that define his legal work.
