Matthew F. Murray
An associate in Michelman & Robinson, LLP’s (M&R’s) Los Angeles office, Matthew Murray is a member of the firm’s Commercial & Business Litigation Practice Group. Mr. Murray has experience in all phases of litigation, including legal research, writing client memoranda, drafting motions and briefs, preparing discovery requests and responses, and drafting pleadings. He focuses his practice on counseling and litigating on behalf of hotels, resorts and restaurants.
Mr. Murray graduated with a J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where he was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient. During his time in law school, he was a Writing Advisor to first year students and a Research Assistant to Professor Seana Shiffrin. At the start of his third year, he joined the Philosophy Department at UCLA as a visiting teaching assistant. Before starting his legal education, he graduated cum laude with a B.A. in philosophy and departmental honors from UCLA.
Prior to and during law school, Mr. Murray was a law clerk at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office in the Federal and Local Special Abatement Operations division and Project TOUGH (Taking Out Urban Gang Headquarters).
Business Transactions: Drafted membership interest purchase agreements and corporate resolutions for various businesses in Los Angeles, CA.
Health Care Litigation/Arbitration: Drafted declaration and motion to confirm arbitration award for health care provider.
Insurance Arbitration: Conducted extensive legal research and drafted memoranda summarizing critical arguments for use in arbitration against a major health insurance provider on behalf of physicians’ group.
Litigation: In a personal injury suit against a prominent hotel, conducted review and analysis of key documents used to defeat the plaintiff’s claims at the summary judgment stage of litigation.
Litigation: Prepared legal memorandum to assist in defense of national restaurant chain.
