Lazar Sterling-Jackson is a senior associate in M&R's New York office and a member of the firm’s Commercial & Business Litigation Practice Group. In that capacity, he represents clients across industries in complex disputes venued in state and federal court, bankruptcy court, surrogate’s court, and at private arbitration and mediation.
With experience that spans all phases of litigation, Lazar drafts pleadings and briefs; crafts and argues motions; supervises and conducts written discovery and depositions; participates in court and arbitration hearings; leads settlement negotiations; and handles a broad range of responsibilities at trial. Beyond the courtroom, he advises clients regarding employment, separation, confidentiality, membership interest, and entity governance agreements as well as issues of Delaware and New York corporate law. Lazar also represents clients throughout the course of internal investigations and investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and other federal, state and local agencies. All the while, Lazar maintains an active pro bono practice in areas of prisoners’ rights and immigration.
While a student at New York University School of Law, Lazar worked under multiple District Attorneys and the Honorable Lewis Bart Stone, dealing with issues involving organized and white-collar crime, violent crimes and governmental corruption.
