Benjamin Horwitz is an associate in M&R’s San Francisco office, counseling clients primarily in the hospitality, insurance and Internet, software and technology industries.
With experience in several phases of litigation, Mr. Horwitz has drafted demand letters, complaints, dispositive motions, discovery requests and responses, and evidentiary objections. He has also participated in trial preparation.
Mr. Horwitz is a member of M&R’s Associate Liaison Committee.
Prior to joining M&R, Mr. Horwitz served as a legal intern for the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office, with the Harbor Division and the Port of Los Angeles, where he assisted on various tort, insurance and environmental law matters, drafted preliminary contracts for leasing Port facilities and equipment to government agencies, and worked extensively on discovery concerning the California Environmental Quality Act challenge to the Southern California International Gateway project.
Mr. Horwitz earned his J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. He participated in the UC Hastings Institute for Innovation Law’s Startup Legal Garage, working on corporate and intellectual property projects for early stage tech startup companies, including entity formation, structuring and developing intellectual property strategies, and handling contract and personnel issues. He was also the Senior Development Editor for the Hastings Law Journal. He received his B.A., with honors, in Communication, from the University of Southern California.
- Breach of Contract: Drafted discovery motions and discovery responses in a breach of contract matter regarding a dispute over assets on an industrial site that were contracted for purchase.
- Intellectual Property: Assisted in an intellectual property matter involving the copyright and trademark ownership rights of a distinguished furniture brand.
