"On Oct. 1, the Los Angeles City Council's Economic Development Committee gave final approval to increase the minimum wage to $15.37 per hour for hotels with 300 or more rooms by July 1, 2016. This sweeping spike in hospitality wages will affect thousands of hotel employees throughout the city. Hotel owners, employees and labor groups have been vocal and contentious regarding their respective positions on the issue."
