Michelman & Robinson, LLP Continues Its Firm-Wide Growth With Return of Scott LyonPDF
LOS ANGELES, CA – Michelman & Robinson, LLP (“M&R”) is pleased to announce that Scott Lyon has rejoined the firm as Counsel in its Orange County office after serving as Vice-President and Assistant General Counsel – Privacy, Technology & Intellectual Property for the Irvine Company.
A member of M&R’s Corporate & Securities Property Practice Group, Lyon’s expertise in technology, cybersecurity, and data privacy is particularly relevant given today’s business climate. In addition to evaluating and implementing effective information security practices, he helps clients develop responsible data governance programs (including CCPA and GDPR compliance), manages data breach responses and notifications for his clients, and guides them through the complicated state, federal, and international legal obligations relating to emerging technologies.
Having been awarded numerous security and privacy certifications, including the ABA’s Privacy Law Specialization, IAPP’s CIPP/US, CIPT, and Fellow of Information Privacy certifications, and CompTIA’s CySA+ (Cybersecurity Analyst), Security+, and A+ certifications, Lyon also leverages his technical expertise to offer the full-spectrum of pre- and post-breach services to M&R’s broad-based clientele. He is a litigator in both state and federal courts and transactional attorney as well.
Says Michael Poster, head of M&R’s corporate department, “I am thrilled to have Scott back with the firm. He brings with him extraordinary capabilities that not only serve our existing client base, but also will opens doors to exciting new privacy- and cybersecurity-related business opportunities, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.”
Regarding his return to M&R, Lyon states, “While my experience with the Irvine Company was invaluable, I’m eager to return to helping our clients comply with new and changing cybersecurity and data privacy laws and regulations like the CCPA and GDPR. I’ve considered M&R home for many years, and I’m thrilled to again be counseling clients across a wide range of industries—financial services, insurance, advertising, digital media, hospitality, technology, and retail, among them—on improving their cybersecurity and data privacy programs, implementing data governance programs to minimize risk and potential liability, and developing policies to quickly mitigate and recover from cyber attacks.”
