Attorneys React to DOL’s Final Overtime Exemption Rule

May 18, 2016

Dana Kravetz was featured in the article “Attorneys React to DOL’s Final Overtime Exemption Rule,” published in Law360 on May 18, 2016. Mr. Kravetz notes that while the new Department of Labor rule raising the minimum salary threshold to qualify for the federal white collar exemption is ostensibly aimed at boosting pay and rebuilding the middle class, it is unlikely to fully accomplish this goal. To comply with the rule, employers will likely be forced to cut operational costs, reduce employee bonuses and benefits, and either reclassify workers as non-exempt or closely monitor their work schedules to avoid overtime.
