Andrew Selesnick was quoted in the article, "Calif. Supreme Court says HMOs are on the hook for clients' emergency bills," published in Modern Healthcare on November 15, 2016. The article addresses the California Supreme Court's ruling that emergency physicians can sue HMOs for negligently delegating payment responsibility to an Independent Physicians Association (IPA) when they knew, or should have known, that the IPA was not financially stable. As counsel for the emergency physicians (the prevailing parties), Mr. Selesnick notes that “with this decision, the California Supreme Court has championed the notion that emergency service providers should get paid for their work, and that HMOs cannot simply absolve themselves of their obligations to these providers by delegating payment responsibility to third parties,”
