PDF California Society for Healthcare Attorneys (CSHA) Fall Seminar
Los Angeles, CA
November 9, 2018

M&R partner David Johnson was a panelist for the California Society for Healthcare Attorneys (CSHA) Fall Seminar session "Trends and Risks in Healthcare Discrimination Enforcement and Litigation: What Does the Future Hold?" on Friday, November 9 at 1:30 PM at the Sheraton Gateway Los Angeles Hotel.

Patients, enrollees, and disability rights advocates are bringing private lawsuits, and OCR and DOJ have stepped up enforcement of federal anti-discrimination laws. The panel focused on recent cases alleging race, sex, disability, age, and communication (i.e., language and auxiliary aids) discrimination by health plans and providers. In addition to discussing how ACA Section 1557 and related federal discrimination laws are being interpreted and enforced, the speakers lead an interactive discussion of current discrimination scenarios.
