Promoting Equality and Implementing Working Conditions through Collective Bargaining AgreementsPDF IBA Employment & Diversity Law Conference 2020
Richard Reice will present “Promoting Equality and Implementing Working Conditions through Collective Bargaining Agreements” at IBA Employment & Diversity Law Conference 2020 on Friday, April 3, 2020 in Madrid, Spain.
The world has seen a trend towards a broader level of unionization in the last decade expanding beyond typical industries such as manufacturing. Unions are trying to regulate the future of work, despite the fact that employees are only one half of the employment relationship. The range of collective platforms and regimes available varies significantly between European countries and Canada and the US, where cultural foundations and perspectives on the matter differ widely. To what degree do collective agreements concentrate on discrimination / equality? Where are the challenges in avoiding discrimination while implementing certain working conditions and/or a framework for equality, especially regarding gender, age or union? Comparisons between continents will provide an interesting starting point from which to view to a better understanding of the whole concept of collective relations. The session will also identify notable and general trends and discuss where collective relations are heading and how businesses can benefit from such.
